Keep Santa Cruz Weird.

Or, *IS* Santa Cruz still Weird?

Do you believe Santa Cruz was once weird, but now is just confined and yuppified, unique perhaps, but not really weird?

Is our current definition of weird based on the fact that we have strange guy dressed in all pink with an umbrella walking at a snail's pace down our streets? Ok, he IS weird, but does that mean WE are?

Have the radical minds and actions that once made Santa Cruz progressive, revolutionary and weird sold out to the powers of fear, status quo and "liberal mainstream" politics of compromise, supression of a democratic process and engagement and the draconian containment of political freedom and public expression over the rights of property owners?

We recently took over this site from a friend of ours, and intend to discuss the question of Santa Cruz's future and weirdness, including blogs, pictures, local political weirdness (indeed) and what we hope will provide some interesting commentary and dialogue about whether stickers alone are enough to ligitimately claim and proclaim one's weirdness.

Let us know if you're interested in being involved in this project. Weird applicants only need apply.
